"Campaign Launch: #BringBackOurToasting – Reviving the Art of Genuine Courtship"
There was a time when men use to ‘toast’ (woo a woman) those times are quite interesting! In bygone eras, the art of courtship was a fascinating endeavor to witness. Men would meticulously pursue women, employing gestures such as heartfelt letters, thoughtful gifts, and a respectful approach in their quest to win a lady's affection. However, these customs now seem antiquated, nearly obsolete.
The contemporary generation of men lacks the subtlety and patience exhibited by the then generations. It is tempting to attribute this shift solely to men and pretend that the perceived disrespect isn’t inherent in modern dating culture. Yet, it is important to acknowledge that both parties play a role in this evolving dynamic. Today's youth loathe an aversion to processes that are not instantaneous; they subscribe to the notion that if something cannot be obtained immediately, it is not worth pursuing. Similarly, there exists among women a sentiment epitomized by the phrase "cry in a Bentley rather than smile in a tricycle," which encapsulates a preference for material comforts over emotional fulfillment, which is now a watchword for young women out there.
It is true that modern dating frequently centers around sexual encounters, even though I am reluctant to get into conversations about changing sexual orientations. Words like "sexual compatibility" have taken precedence over the more sensitive aspects of courtship in relationships.
Moreover, the concept of courtship itself has undergone a transformation, now resembling a structured game with varying levels. It behooves us to examine the root causes of this phenomenon, particularly the influence of the preceding generation in shaping the values and behaviors of their successors. While a noticeable shift has indeed occurred, we must scrutinize who or what instigated this change.
Oh! How I missed been toast! Oh, how I yearn for the days of being courted! When genuine respect for women emanates from men who view them as more than mere objects, but rather as individuals deserving of dignity and regard, it reflects not only the character of these men but also the values instilled in them through proper upbringing. Indeed, such a demonstration of respect is reassuring.
Can we now start the campaign #BringbackourToasting
